Call out for Young Abbey Assessors Panel

Are you aged 18 – 23? Do you have passion for theatre and the live performing arts? The Abbey Theatre and the Arts Council are seeking applicants for the Young Abbey Assessors Panel.

Do you love talking about work you’ve seen and picking apart what you liked and didn’t like about it? Would you like to help the Abbey Theatre to think about and reflect on the work that it presents on its stages and on tour to its audiences? If so, read on!

The Abbey Theatre and the Arts Council are seeking applicants for the Young Abbey Assessors Panel.

Following a selection process, we will put a group of assessors together who will attend work at the Abbey and Peacock (and perhaps on tour), and offer their view as to the ambition, quality and relevance of our work – particularly from the viewpoint of younger audiences.

Your views will form part of on an ongoing dialogue with the Arts Council and other stakeholders on how the Abbey is delivering on its mission and strategy in terms of the work it presents.

We would like to get the perspectives of as wide a range of young people as possible and welcome applications from as diverse a range of backgrounds as possible.

  • Your name, age, email address & phone number
  • 100 words about you*
  • 200 words on the kind of theatre and live performance that excites you
  • 200 words on a show that you have recently seen (any show – it doesn’t have to have been presented in or by the Abbey Theatre)**

All you have to do is fill out this application form

The deadline for submissions is midnight on Friday 28 June.

Expenses and a nominal fee will be paid to each Young Abbey Assessor. Each assessor will be appointed for an initial period of 18 months.

A panel will be selected based on:

  • The quality of what you write about yourself and your interest, passion and knowledge of theatre
  • A mix of people from across Ireland
  • A diversity of backgrounds where possible
  • A mix of genders

This invitation to apply is open to anyone living in Ireland. The Abbey and the Arts Council welcome applications from diverse and minority communities.

**Note – the Arts Council may ask you to review other types of theatre and performance that it funds. You can let us know if you would be up for that when you apply.
